New Balance started in Boston in 1906 as an arch support company and grew into one of the very few sneaker brands still manufacturing in the US and the UK. The 1960 Trackster was the first running shoe offered in multiple widths, and that fit-first engineering still runs through the 990 series and the rest of the line.
